With the charity sector continuing to navigate financial pressures, increased regulatory scrutiny and growing expectations around impact and governance, many organisations are looking for practical insights to help them move forward with confidence.

That’s why we’re bringing together experts in charity law, finance, governance and investment from Brabners, Mitchell Charlesworth and Rathbones in Liverpool and Manchester this November.

Louise Casey (Mitchell Charlesworth) will explore the key accounting, reporting and governance issues affecting charities. Drawing on the latest developments in Charity SORP 2026 and FRS 102, Louise will examine the responsibilities facing trustees and senior leaders, alongside the steps that organisations can take to strengthen financial resilience. She’ll also share insights from audits and independent examinations, highlight common areas of risk (including fraud and going concern considerations) and outline the practical steps that charities can take over the coming months.

Graeme Hughes (Brabners) will examine the charity law and governance developments that have shaped the sector over the past 12 months. Topics will include the completion of the Charities Act 2022 reforms, updates to the Charity Governance Code and Code of Fundraising Practice and equality law developments following the Supreme Court’s decision in For Women Scotland. Graeme will also consider the Charity Commission’s latest regulatory activity and what it means for both charities and trustees.

Adrian Maxwell (Rathbones) will share his perspective on how markets have remained resilient through a period of significant economic, political and technological change, including the continued growth and influence of AI on investment markets. Adrian will also discuss what may lie ahead and explore how Rathbones is positioning portfolios to navigate an evolving environment while balancing risk and return for charity investors.
